The Google Merchant Center integration connects your Aesthetix CRM online store to Google Merchant Center and keeps your product catalog synchronized with Google automatically. Once your skincare products, gift cards, or treatment packages are submitted and approved, they can appear across Google Search, Shopping, Images, Lens, Maps, and more, without you maintaining a separate product feed.
This article covers what the integration does, what you need before connecting, how to set it up, which products sync, how to read approval statuses and fix disapproved products, and how to disconnect a store.
Google Merchant Center is a free Google tool for submitting and managing product information that Google uses across its properties. Once your products are submitted and approved, eligible products can appear through free listings on surfaces like Google Search, Shopping, Images, Lens, Maps, YouTube, and Gemini, at no advertising cost. Running paid Google Shopping ads on top of that is a separate step that requires its own Google Ads setup; see Google Ads Conversion Tracking if you're also tracking ad conversions.
After you connect your account, select a Merchant Center account, and map it to your online store, the integration handles ongoing synchronization automatically. It can:
Sync eligible products assigned to the connected store
Sync product information, images, and supported variants
Keep prices, inventory, and availability updated
Automatically sync newly added eligible products and supported changes to existing ones
Surface synchronization errors and warnings, and issues that may affect Google's approval
Let you trigger a manual Force Sync when needed
Support connections between multiple stores and multiple Merchant Center accounts
The integration submits eligible products to Google. It doesn't control Google's independent review, approval, or ad policies, and connecting your store never guarantees a product will appear on Google.
Before connecting, make sure you have:
A Google account
An online store with a live, connected domain (see Getting Started with Your Online Store if you haven't launched yours yet)
A Google Merchant Center account, or the ability to create one during setup
Your shipping origin country and language configured
Products assigned to the store you want to connect (see Create and Manage Products)
Your store needs a valid, verified domain because Google receives the product landing page URL for everything you submit. Merchant Center can often verify a website automatically; if it can't, Google provides manual verification steps during setup.
Install the Google Merchant Center app for your account. If you don't see it available, contact Aesthetix CRM support to have it enabled.
Start the Google account connection process.
Sign in with the Google account you want to use, either one that already has access to your Merchant Center account, or one you'll use to create and manage a new Merchant Center account.
Complete Google's authorization process. The app automatically retrieves the Merchant Center accounts available to that Google account, so you don't need to enter a Merchant Center account ID manually.
Select or create a Merchant Center account. If accounts are available, choose the one to connect. If you don't have one yet, use the Create New GMC Account option, or the setup documentation provided within the app. Account creation itself happens with Google, not automatically through the integration. You may also need to complete Google's business information and verification requirements before your products can become eligible.
Verify your store domain, if it isn't already verified for use with Merchant Center. Google will attempt automatic verification first and provide manual steps if that isn't possible.
Select the online store you want to connect to the chosen Merchant Center account. Only products assigned to this store are synced; products that exist in your account but aren't assigned to it are left out.
Confirm the store-to-Merchant Center mapping. The initial product synchronization starts automatically once the connection is created.
A successful sync means a product was submitted to Google, not that it's been approved or is already visible to shoppers. Google may take additional time to process, review, and approve newly submitted products.
Only eligible products assigned to the connected store are synchronized. Supported product data includes:
Product information
Images
Variants
Price
Inventory
Availability
New eligible products and supported changes to existing ones keep syncing automatically after the initial connection. Products with a one-time payment option are currently supported. Products that only offer a recurring payment option are not synchronized through this integration; if a product has both one-time and recurring pricing, only the one-time price is eligible to sync.
Google also applies its own product eligibility, data, and policy requirements on top of this. The integration supporting a product doesn't guarantee Google will approve it.
When you connect the integration, Google Merchant Center creates a data source used to receive your product information, built using the country and language configured for your shipping origin.
Don't delete this data source unless necessary. Deleting it removes the products that were synchronized through it. If it's deleted accidentally, or you need to rebuild it, use Force Sync from the integration to recreate the data source and resubmit your eligible products.
Synchronization is designed to happen on its own, so you should only need Force Sync if:
A recent product update hasn't appeared in Merchant Center
Products need to be resubmitted
The data source was deleted
You want to manually refresh the whole catalog
Force Sync triggers a new synchronization for every eligible product tied to the connected store.
Google reviews every submitted product and assigns it a status, such as:
Under review
Processing
Approved
Limited
Not approved
Google determines these statuses, not the integration. The integration surfaces relevant errors and warnings during and after setup so you can identify what's blocking approval. Common issues include:
Missing or invalid product information
Product data that doesn't match Google's requirements
Merchant Center configuration issues
Website or domain issues
Policy issues
Missing business information
Where the integration gives you issue details, use them to jump to the affected product or setting and correct it. You can also check Merchant Center's own Needs attention section for account-level and product-level issues Google has flagged. After correcting an issue, request another review from Merchant Center if one is required before the product can be reconsidered.
You can unlink a store from its Merchant Center account at any time. After removing the connection:
The store is no longer connected to that Merchant Center account
Future product changes from that store stop syncing through the integration
The store becomes available to connect to a different eligible Merchant Center account
The previously connected Merchant Center account becomes available for another connection
Disconnecting doesn't touch Google's own product or account policies. Products already submitted to Google stay under Google's independent review and listing rules until you take action inside Merchant Center itself.
Multiple stores: You can connect more than one store to Google Merchant Center, but each store and each Merchant Center account can only be part of one active connection at a time. To reuse a store or account that's already mapped elsewhere, remove the existing connection first.
Products aren't syncing. Check that the store is still connected to Merchant Center, the product is assigned to the connected store, the product has a supported one-time payment option, your store's domain is valid and connected, the data source still exists in Merchant Center, and there are no synchronization errors shown in the integration. If everything looks correct, run Force Sync.
A product synced but isn't visible on Google. Syncing and approval are separate steps. Check the product's status in Merchant Center and any issues Google has reported; a successful sync only confirms Google received the product.
A product wasn't approved. Review the error or warning shown in the integration and check Merchant Center's Needs attention section. Correct the underlying product, website, or account issue, then request another review if applicable.
My domain isn't verified. Complete the store URL verification process inside Merchant Center. Google verifies some domains automatically; if it can't, follow the manual verification steps Google provides.
The data source was deleted. Return to the integration and run Force Sync to recreate the data source and resubmit your eligible products.
A store or Merchant Center account won't connect. It's likely already part of another active connection. Each store and each Merchant Center account can only belong to one active mapping at a time, so remove the existing connection before creating a new one.
Does connecting my store guarantee my products will appear on Google?
No. The integration submits eligible product data to Merchant Center. Google independently reviews products and decides their approval, visibility, and eligibility.
Can I connect more than one store?
Yes. You can connect multiple stores to Google Merchant Center, but each store and each Merchant Center account can only be part of one active connection at a time. Remove an existing connection before mapping a store or account that's already in use elsewhere.
Will new products sync automatically?
Yes. Once connected, newly added eligible products assigned to the connected store sync automatically, along with supported changes like pricing, inventory, availability, images, and variants.
Are subscription or recurring products supported?
No. Only products with a one-time payment option currently sync through this integration.
Do I need to build a product feed myself?
No. The integration creates and manages the data source in Merchant Center that keeps your eligible products synchronized.
Does this integration create a Merchant Center account for me?
No. If you don't already have one, use the account creation option or setup documentation provided during connection, and complete account creation with Google directly.
Does connecting Merchant Center run Google Shopping ads for me?
No. The integration only synchronizes your product catalog to Merchant Center. Running paid Google Shopping ads requires a separate Google Ads account and setup.
What happens to products already on Google if I disconnect my store?
Disconnecting stops future syncing from that store, but it doesn't remove or change how Google independently handles products it already has. Manage those directly in Merchant Center if you need them taken down.
