What Is an Affiliate?

An affiliate is someone who helps promote your business — and earns a commission for the sales or leads they bring in. This could be a client, influencer, or friend who shares a special link that tracks referrals. You might also hear them called “promoters” or “partners.”

Key Terms You’ll See

• Affiliate Link
  A unique URL that tracks clicks, leads, and sales from each affiliate.

• Affiliate ID
  A code the system uses to track how much each affiliate earns.

• Source
  The starting point of a promotion — like a landing page, funnel, calendar, or form — where the affiliate traffic is sent.

Campaigns & Commissions

• Campaign
  A campaign is a group of products or services your affiliates can promote. It helps organize what’s being offered and what commission applies.

• Default Commission
  The standard reward rate (e.g. 20%) for all products in a campaign.

• Product-Based Commission
  You can offer higher commissions for certain items — for example, 30% on a best-seller.

• Setup Fee Rules
  You decide whether one-time setup fees are included in the affiliate’s commission.

Tracking Affiliate Results

• Attribution
  The system automatically gives credit to the right affiliate when someone uses their link and becomes a lead or customer.

• Commission Types

  • Flat Fee: A fixed dollar amount

  • Percentage: A cut of the total sale

  • Recurring: Earn every time a subscription renews

• Payouts
  This is what you owe each affiliate, based on their tracked activity.

Affiliate Levels

• Two-Tier Program
  Affiliates can earn not only from their own sales, but also from people they refer as new affiliates.

• Multi-Tier Program
  Aesthetix CRM supports up to 7 levels — giving you room to build a team of affiliates and sub-affiliates.

• Sub-Affiliate
  A promoter referred by an affiliate. The original affiliate earns a cut from their activity, too.

How Tracking Works

• Cookies
  These help remember who clicked the affiliate’s link — so if someone returns and purchases later, credit is still given.

• Cookie Length
  You control how long tracking stays active (e.g. 30 days).

• Clicks
  You can see how many people clicked a link, even if they didn’t buy yet.

Managing Affiliates in Your Portal

• Affiliate Portal
  Every affiliate gets their own dashboard to track performance, view commissions, and get links.

• Magic Link
  Send your affiliate a one-click login so they can access their portal without needing a password.

Leads vs. Customers

• Lead
  Someone who fills out a form, books a call, or takes another action showing interest.

• Customer
  A lead becomes a customer once they make a purchase — and that’s when most commissions kick in.
