Trigger links are trackable short links you can drop into your messages, emails, funnels, and websites. When a lead or patient clicks one, Aesthetix CRM records the click and can automatically kick off a workflow. This makes trigger links one of the easiest ways to measure engagement and turn a single click into a whole chain of follow-up actions. This article walks you through everything you need to know: what trigger links are, how to create them, how to insert them into SMS messages, how to edit and delete them, and how to find them in your list.
A trigger link is a special, trackable link that lives inside Aesthetix CRM. Instead of sending a plain website URL to a contact, you send a trigger link that points to that same destination. The difference is that Aesthetix CRM sits in the middle: every time a contact clicks the link, the CRM records the click against that contact and can fire an automation.
When you create a trigger link, the CRM assigns it its own unique tracking URL. This tracking URL is different from the destination URL it leads to. The contact still ends up at your intended destination (your website, a booking page, a special offer, and so on), but the click passes through Aesthetix CRM first so it can be logged.
The most common places to use trigger links are in campaigns, emails, funnels, websites, and SMS messages. Because a click can start an automation, trigger links are a powerful way to drive engagement and conversions, promote a special offer, or invite contacts to take a specific action.
How a click starts a workflow: Once a trigger link exists, you can use it inside the Workflows builder. Add the Trigger Link Clicked workflow trigger and select your link, and anyone who clicks it will automatically enter that workflow. This is how a single click can launch targeted, automated follow-up. For details on building automations, see the Workflows articles.
Follow these steps to create a new trigger link in Aesthetix CRM.
Step 1: Go to Marketing. From the main navigation, click Marketing to open the Marketing section.
Step 2: Open Trigger Links. Click Trigger Links to open the trigger links area.
Step 3: Click Add Link. To start creating a new trigger link, click the Add Link button.
Step 4: Name your trigger link. Enter a name for your trigger link in the designated field. It is important to name your trigger link clearly for organization purposes. Following a consistent naming convention keeps your list standardized and easy to search later.
Step 5: Paste the destination URL. Once you have named your trigger link, paste the URL of the destination where you want your leads and patients to be directed. For example, if you want to send people to your website, copy and paste your website's URL here. This is the address the contact lands on after they click; Aesthetix CRM generates its own tracking URL separately.
Step 6: Save. Click Save to finish creating your trigger link.
Trigger links are especially effective in SMS marketing. Adding one to a text message lets you drive engagement and measure which contacts clicked. Use these steps to insert a trigger link while composing an SMS.
Step 1: Open the Inbox. Navigate to the Inbox icon and click on it.
Step 2: Choose Message. Choose the Message category from the available options.
Step 3: Select SMS. Select SMS from the categories listed.
Step 4: Add content. Select the + icon to continue.
Step 5: Open Trigger Links. Click Trigger Links.
Step 6: Search and select. Type your desired trigger link into the Search bar, then choose the link you want to insert into your message.
You can update a trigger link at any time to change its name or point it at a new destination.

Step 2: Open Trigger Links. Select Trigger Links from the menu.
Step 3: Choose a link to edit. Find the link you want to change and click the Edit option.

Step 5: Update the URL. Modify the destination URL if necessary.
Step 6: Save. Click Save to apply your changes.
If you no longer need a trigger link, you can remove it from your list. Note that deleting a trigger link is permanent and cannot be undone, so be sure it is something you intend to do.

Your full list of trigger links lives in one place so you can review, search, and manage them all together.
Step 1: Go to Marketing. Click Marketing to open the Marketing section.
Step 2: Open Trigger Links. Click Trigger Links to open the trigger links list.
Once you are in the list, here is what each part shows you:
Name: Your existing trigger links are sorted alphabetically by the name you gave them. This is why a clear naming convention matters.
Link URL: This column shows the relevant URL for each link. Remember that when you generate a trigger link, it is assigned a unique tracking URL, which is different from the destination URL it leads to.
Search: The search bar lets you filter your trigger links by name, making it easy to find a specific link in a long list.
Actions: From here you can make changes to a trigger link or delete it entirely. Keep in mind that deleting a trigger link is an irreversible action.
What is the difference between the tracking URL and the destination URL? The destination URL is the web address you want contacts to land on, such as your website or a booking page. The tracking URL is the unique link Aesthetix CRM generates for the trigger link. Contacts click the tracking URL, Aesthetix CRM records the click, and then they are forwarded to the destination URL.
Where can I use trigger links? Trigger links can be used in campaigns, emails, funnels, websites, and SMS messages. Anywhere you would normally paste a link, you can use a trigger link instead so the click is tracked and can start an automation.
How does a trigger link start a workflow? In the Workflows builder, add the Trigger Link Clicked trigger and select your link. Any contact who clicks that link will automatically enter the workflow, letting you build targeted, automated follow-up from a single click. See the Workflows articles for more.
Can I recover a trigger link after deleting it? No. Deleting a trigger link is permanent and cannot be undone. Make sure you no longer need a link before you delete it.
How do I keep my trigger links organized? Give each link a clear, consistent name when you create it. Because your list is sorted alphabetically and the search bar filters by name, a good naming convention makes it much easier to find and manage links over time.
