Text snippets are reusable pieces of pre-written SMS content you can drop into any conversation or automation in Aesthetix CRM. Instead of retyping the same message for common responses, notifications, or outreach, you build a snippet once and reuse it anywhere. Snippets save time, keep your messaging consistent and professional, and can be personalized on the fly with custom values and trigger links. This guide walks you through creating a text snippet, adding merge fields and links, attaching files, saving it, and sending a test.
You can create and manage text snippets from two places in Aesthetix CRM, and snippets you create are available in both:
From the Inbox — open your Inbox, then select Template (Snippets). This is the fastest path when you're actively messaging clients.
From Marketing — open the Marketing section, then choose SMS Templates to manage your full library of text templates.
Once created, a snippet appears in the Inbox composer for quick insertion and can also be used in workflow SMS actions for automated messaging.
Step 1: Open your snippet library. From the Inbox, select Template (Snippets), or from Marketing, choose SMS Templates.
Step 2: Start a new text snippet. Choose Add Template (Snippet), then select Add Text Template (Snippet) to open a blank text snippet.
Step 3: Name your snippet. Enter a clear, descriptive name so you can quickly find it later. Organizing and categorizing snippets with consistent names makes them easy to retrieve when you have many.
Step 4: Add custom values (merge fields). Insert custom values to personalize each message automatically, such as a contact's first name or your business name. These placeholders are filled in with the recipient's real details when the message sends.
Step 5: Add trigger links. Choose the appropriate trigger links to include in your snippet when needed. Trigger links let you insert dynamic, trackable URLs into the message body.
Step 6: Compose the body content. Write the main text of your snippet. This is the message your clients will receive, whether you're answering a frequently asked question, sending a standard notification, or personalizing outreach.
Step 7: Attach files if needed. Add any files to your snippet by URL, or attach files directly. Attachments are optional and can be used to include images, documents, or other media with your message.
Step 8: Save your snippet. Save your changes to finalize the snippet and add it to your library.
SMS messages are billed and delivered in segments. A standard text message segment holds a limited number of characters, and longer messages are automatically split into multiple segments. Custom values and trigger links expand to their full length when the message sends, which can push a message into additional segments than the snippet preview suggests. Keep snippets concise where possible, and preview the resulting length after merge fields resolve so you can manage delivery and cost.
Before putting a snippet into regular use, send yourself a test to confirm it looks and behaves as expected.
Step 1: Choose a test contact. Select a contact number to send the test message to.
Step 2: Send the test. Send out the test and review the received message, checking that custom values populate correctly, trigger links resolve, and the formatting reads well.
Where do my text snippets appear once I create them? Saved snippets are available in the Inbox composer for quick insertion into live conversations, and they can also be used in workflow SMS actions for automated messaging.
What's the difference between the Inbox and Marketing paths? Both lead to the same snippet library. The Inbox path is convenient while you're actively messaging clients, and the Marketing → SMS Templates path is best for managing your full library. Snippets created in one place appear in the other.
Can I personalize a snippet for each recipient? Yes. Add custom values (merge fields) to your snippet so details like the contact's name or your business name fill in automatically for each recipient when the message sends.
What are trigger links used for? Trigger links let you insert dynamic, trackable URLs into your snippet body, so you can include links that adapt to the recipient or campaign.
Can I include images or files in a text snippet? Yes. You can attach files to a snippet either by URL or by uploading them directly.
Why is my message sending as more than one segment? SMS messages are split into segments based on character count. Custom values and trigger links expand to their full length when sent, which can increase the total character count and split the message into additional segments. Preview the resolved message length to manage delivery and cost.
