Stripe is updating its requirements for ACH Direct Debit payments to comply with Nacha operating rules. If you accept U.S. bank account payments through Stripe in Aesthetix, you may need to update your Stripe account settings so customers can clearly identify your business on their bank statements and have a way to contact you.
Effective Date: March 20, 2026
You should review and update your Stripe settings if:
You have a Stripe account connected to Aesthetix and accept ACH Direct Debit payments.
You plan to accept U.S. bank account payments through Stripe in the future.
Your sub-accounts or clients have Stripe connected and accept ACH Direct Debit payments.
Stripe requires businesses to specify how ACH bank payment transactions should be classified. You must select one of the following options in your Stripe settings.
Stripe automatically determines whether a transaction represents a purchase of goods using available information such as merchant data and transaction details.
Recommended for most businesses
Requires no code changes
Choose this option if your business only sells physical or digital products.
All ACH transactions will be categorized as goods purchases
Choose this option if your business primarily:
Provides services
Accepts donations
Collects bill payments
In this case, ACH transactions will not be classified as goods purchases.
Follow these steps to update your ACH transaction classification:
Log in to your Stripe Dashboard.
Navigate to Settings.
Select Payments.
Locate the Link section.
Find the Nacha Compliance settings.
Select one of the three transaction classification options.
Click Save to apply your changes.
No. These settings are managed directly in your Stripe account, so they must be updated manually in the Stripe Dashboard.
Use a business name that customers will recognize. This name appears on bank statements when customers are charged via ACH Direct Debit.
Clear statement descriptors help reduce payment disputes and customer confusion.
If your business accepts ACH payments through Stripe, make sure to update these settings before March 20, 2026 to remain compliant with Nacha requirements.
