Google Ads Conversions Setup
In this interactive walk-through below, we will show you how to set up your forms for Google Ads if you are using specific landing pages. You can use these forms on our landing page builder or external builders like Unbounce, Instapage, and others. Once set up, our forms capture all of the native attribution data automatically.
Aesthetix CRM has built Lead Capture workflows to help practices and agencies streamline the setup of lead capture sources and organize that data into our CRM configuration. Typically, forms are the triggers for these workflows, and these workflows automate the creation of opportunities and add contact to the lead nurture. Below, we walk through the two most common setups for Lead Capture with Google Ads.
Traditionally, the best way to run ads in the aesthetics space is to run dedicated landing pages. Landing pages help focus the visitor and increase conversion rates. When using dedicated landing pages, you want to create a unique form and duplicate a unique lead capture workflow for each campaign. Below is a walk-through of the process for how to set this up when launching a new Google Ads campaign.
Another option that some agencies choose is to run ads on the main website and give visitors the option to go anywhere. This includes if you are sending a specific procedure page on the website. In onboarding, our team typically sets up the Consultation form that you will use on your website. In this case, the lead capture workflow is already set up so you do not need to set it up again unless you are using unique forms on each of your procedure pages. In the next steps, we will cover how to set up the Google Ads conversion actions in this lead capture workflow.
We already have a templated Number Pools call tracking workflow setup. All you will need to do is connect the Google Ads Conversion in the workflow. We will review that process below. In this section, we will cover how to set up the UTM Tracking template in your Google Ads account. This part of the process is incredibly important to your reporting working in the system and properly tracking conversions in Google Ads Manager. Below are two options depending on how you want the data to flow into Aesthetix CRM.
We recommend installing the Tracking Template at the account level for the easiest installation. This ensures that your reporting works and that conversions are being properly tracked to the correct campaign. Below is a walk-through of setting that up at the account level.
Tracking Template (Copy & Paste)
{lpurl}?utm_source=adwords&utm_medium={adname}&utm_campaign={campaignname}&utm_content={adgroupname}&utm_keyword={keyword}&utm_matchtype={matchtype}&campaign_id={campaignid}&ad_group_id={adgroupid}&ad_id={creative}
The other option for more sophisticated clients is to install the Tracking Template at the Ad Group level. Clients choose to install this way so that they have more UTM data in the system available for Campaign Name and Ad Group Name. Google’s Value Parameters currently do not have merge values for Campaign Name or Ad Group name, so you must manually code the campaign name and ad group name to install each Ad Group for each Campaign. Below is an example of the tracking template hard code + walk-through for setting up in Google Ads Manager.
The final step in setting up a Google Ads campaign with Aesthetix CRM is establishing a connection for conversion tracking. Everything we have set up prior is important to the conversion action setup working properly. Below are two walk-throughs for setting up Google ads conversion actions in workflows for dedicated landing pages and main website campaigns.
Utilizing the lead capture workflow that you previously set for the dedicated landing page. You will simply add a Google Ads conversion action and select the Conversion name that you previously set up in Google Ads.
